Students of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics BLDEA VP Dr. PG Halakatti College of Engineering and Technology designed and developed the Solar-Wind Hybrid Smart EV charging station.
This initiative promotes sustainable and green energy on campus. The project was carried out under the guidance of Professors Prashant Kadi and Srirang Kulkarni. It is funded under the state government’s NAIN 2.0.
It uses renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power. The infrastructure used for the project generates 15-16 units of energy per day.
This initiative, which has a power of 3.5 kW, can charge three to four two-wheelers per day.
“Our students and lecturers can use this device to charge their electric vehicles. The main motivation for this is to prevent air pollution and slow down climate change,” Professor Kadi said.
This project was undertaken by a team of students including Aishwarya R. Sagar, Sagar U. Poojary, Shivaraj Basavaprabhu and Vidya Mallikarjuna Math.
Registrar, BLDE (DU), RV Kulkarni inaugurated the EV charging station. He recognized the achievements of faculty and students in sustainable energy initiatives. The project is intended for the benefit of the public. He challenged the students to take it to the next level.
Principal Manjunath P., Vice Principal Leena Ragha, AS Jadhav and other faculty members were present.
