M. Maheshwar Rao, chief commissioner of the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), on Tuesday directed officials to allot shops at palike bazaar in Vijayanagar through e-auction as per prescribed rules.
Mr. Rao said 79 shops would be available in the air-conditioned bazaar and directed the officials to start e-auction immediately to ensure transparent allotment as per norms.
The High Commissioner also asked officials to strictly regulate unauthorized business activities around the bazaar and ordered the appointment of a separate revenue officer to exclusively monitor the premises.
Mr. Rao also reviewed the healthcare infrastructure projects under the Brand Bengaluru project. He noted that the existing Srirampura Maternity Hospital is currently a single-storey old building with 30 beds, which handles four to six deliveries per day and attends to 200-300 outpatients every day. He ordered the old structure to be demolished and replaced with a four-storey building with 50 beds and ordered officials to start work immediately.
He further directed the officials to immediately start the work of upgrading the Moodalapalya Maternity Hospital. Currently, the hospital has 12 beds and plans to expand to 30 beds.
At the MC Layout multi-specialty hospital in Govindarajanagar, officials have been directed to make the facility fully operational and submit a comprehensive report on the required number of doctors and staff, medical equipment needed and measures to ensure optimum utilization.
While inspecting the Indira Canteen and Kitchen near Deepanjali Nagar, Mr. Rao emphasized the need for cleanliness and directed the BWSSB officials to immediately address the sewage overflow at the site.
