Priyam Raj, a tech entrepreneur from Bengaluru, wants to rent Vijay Mallya’s Kingfisher Villa for his birthday party. He wrote an open letter to the fugitive business magnate on social media. The social media post went viral and received 1.2 million views.
“Dear Vijay Mallya, I’m a founder from Bangalore who’s birthday is 23rd March. I want to throw a birthday party the city hasn’t seen in a long time and bring back the good times. Bangalore needs that energy back,” Priyam Raj (now X) tweeted.
“Can I rent Kingfisher Villa for one night? Seriously. I’ll pay. Name your price. Or refer me to whoever owns it now,” he added.
“It would be crazy if you could do it,” the social media user responded.
According to another user, while Vijay Mallya may still post about Bangalore and RCB on social media, he no longer owns anything. The banks seized the property and auctioned it off to get it back ₹9,000 crore he owed them, the user wrote.
“The startup ecosystem is on the mend. From applying for funding to asking for Vijay Mallya’s birthday villa,” the user wrote.
Another user commented: “The audacity of this question is exactly the energy that the founders of the Bangalore scene need. Shoot for the impossible and even a ‘no’ will generate 1 million views. You’ve already won.”
One user quipped, “Vijay Mallya only tweets on public holidays. Then you should try.”
“They say if you ask one of the Zerodha Bros you might get access. Good luck,” chimed in another.
“Throw the party on a private jet. It’s the only way to ensure Bangalore traffic doesn’t keep guests away – and much easier to ‘clear’ customs if the party is too loud,” suggested another user.
