Vigilance panel meeting sees complaints against LSG, tax officials

January 18, 2026

The complaints were raised against officials of two major government departments at a public meeting of the Ernakulam District Vigilance Committee (DVC) held here on Saturday (January 17, 2026).

Most of the complaints filed by those who attended the meeting were against officials of the local government (LSG) and revenue unions, sources said. Of the eight complaints received at the meeting, four each were against LSG and Revenue Department officials. The remaining was related to the irrigation department, sources said.

The complaints related to issues such as waste management in Thrikkakara municipality, inaction against mining pollution and alleged loss of land due to digital surveying, sources added.

“Most of the complaints are about delay in service delivery rather than allegations of corruption. However, we will look into all angles. The complaints will be forwarded to the officers concerned and further action will be taken based on their report,” the official said.

The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) will initiate investigations into cases that the agency says require its attention. In the meeting held at the Collectorate conference hall, it was widely felt that the cooperation of the public is necessary to eradicate corruption. The meeting suggested posting the telephone number of the head of the concerned office at all government institutions.

Additional District Magistrate Vinod Raj and VACB unit Ernakulam DySP TM Varghese presided over the meeting. Five complaints received at the previous meeting were resolved. The Vigilance meeting is held every three months.
