The Vigilance and Enforcement Department has stepped up checks on commercial traffic and conducted two surprise route inspections at Warangal and Medchal-Malkajgiri, which resulted in fines of over ₹9,000.
In Warangal, officials from various departments, including V&E, Transport, State Revenue and Mines, conducted checks at Gudepahad on the outskirts of Hanmakonda for about eight hours, impounding 115 vehicles and penalizing 17 for various violations.
The transport department imposed fines of nearly ₹1.7 million for non-payment of tax, the mines department collected around ₹5,000 for excess gravel transportation and the state revenue department collected around ₹1.55 million for GST evasion, bringing the total to about ₹3.3 million.

During another inspection on the night of December 8-9, Medchal–Malkajgiri officials supported by teams from mines department, RTA and commercial tax department checked vehicles on Shamirpet Outer Ring Road (ORR).
Seven RTA cases resulted in fines totaling ₹ 5.34 lakh, with five vehicles impounded at Hakeempet bus depot. One GST case for carriage without receipts resulted in a challan of ₹99,360 and detention of the vehicle at the Medchal RTA Office. The fines in this operation amounted to roughly ₹6.33 crore.
The ministry said the intensified checks are aimed at preventing revenue leakage and curbing misuse of government funds and natural resources, and urged the public to report suspected irregularities to the toll-free number 14432.
