
The eight -time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer sat in the iconic Royal Box on SW19 on Monday 7th July. The Swiss big, winner of 20 Grand Slam titles was there to watch Novak Djokovic in action during the fourth match of his men with Australian Alex de Minaur. Federer was accompanied by his wife and former tennis player, Mirka, in the VIP cover.
It was Federer’s first visit to Wimbledon this season. Dressed in a purple damn and black sunglasses, he looked like a dapper as always.
Wimbledon update 8. Day
The Central Court gave Federer an exciting reception when he went to the royal box. Over the years, the Swiss Maestro became his own Wimbledon, and from 2003 to 2007 he strengthened eight titles. He last won the tournament in 2017 and achieved the final in 2019.
In court, Djokovic tried to find his rhythm early and lost the first set 1-6 on de Minaur. However, the Serb fought back to take the second set 6-4 and equalize the match in front of the fascinated Federer.
The royal box glittered on Monday with a star. Together with Federer he also participated in the legendary English cricket James Anderson and watched the fourth event. Two sports icons were seen as they exchange pleasure during the match.
England Batter Joe Root was also in participation, the day after being part of A test match between England and India in Birmingham.
Lara selects Sabalenek as a double partner
Meanwhile, the legendary West Indies Brian Lara was also a guest in the royal box earlier in the week. The holder of the highest individual score in the men’s test cricket looked sharp in a gray suit paired with a blue tie.
Lara said he carefully followed the rise of Carlos Alcaraza and was particularly amazed by his performance in the French Open final, where the Spaniard survived World No. 1 Jannik Sinner in five exhausting ensembles. He also appreciated the sinner and said that the young Italian still has room for growth and could become one of the highest giants of sport.
Asked by which players he would choose as a partner’s doubles, Lara named World No. 1 in the women’s singles Aryna Sabalenka.
Previously, on the day, 23 -year -old Italian Flavio Cobolli defeated the former finalist Marin Cilic to achieve the quarterfinals of the Great Slam for the first time in his career. Cobolli’s father, who was at the stalls, was unable to control his tears after his son passed a strict test on Monday.
