Prithvi Shaw has once again made headlines for the wrong reasons after a video with his fiancee Akriti Agarwal went viral on social media amid the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). A video showing Shaw and Agarwal enjoying time in Bangkok surfaced just hours before Delhi Capitals’ IPL 2026 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday.
In the video, Shaw was seen enjoying himself with Agarwal. The Under-19 World Cup-winning captain got engaged to actress and influencer Agarwal on March 8 in an intimate ceremony. The video went viral like wildfire as fans thrashed the Delhi Capitals cricketer on social media.
It also raised questions whether Shaw left the Delhi Capitals camp in the middle of IPL 2026 for his vacation.
Has Prithvi Shaw left IPL 2026 in the middle?
For the uninitiated, Shaw did not leave the Delhi Capitals camp in the middle and is committed to the team. However, it is not clear if he traveled with the team to Chennai as Shaw was not even listed on the Impact player list. As for the video, it is from before the start of IPL 2026.
If Shaw’s Instagram account is checked, the Delhi Capitals cricketer shared pictures wearing the same outfit from their trip to Bangkok on March 3. This means that the video that went viral was shot before the start of IPL 2026.
However, Shaw’s return to the Delhi Capitals playing XI looks uncertain in the near future as the team is loaded with starters. KL Rahul and Sri Lankan Pathum Nissanka are currently opening the batting for the franchise. They also have the likes of Abishek Porel and Sahil Parekh. Porel opened the batting for Delhi Capitals last year.
Prithvi Shaw’s IPL journey
After leading India to U-19 World Cup glory in New Zealand in 2018, Shaw was roped in by the Delhi Capitals the same year. Since then, Shaw has been part of the Delhi Capitals franchise until IPL 2024, before poor form in the last season found him nobody. The right-hander was picked up by CSK for R75 million last December during the auction after he was initially unsold.
Shaw’s IPL peak came in 2021 when he scored 479 runs in 15 overs, playing a huge role in Delhi Capitals’ run to the playoffs. In total, Shaw played 79 IPL games for Delhi Capitals, scoring 1892 runs with a top score of 99 against Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2019.
