US President Donald Trump described the reporter as a “madman” when the latter named him to provoke the 1977 law to adopt his extensive tariffs. His repetition has left social media in splitting.
“Why didn’t you call this law in your first term?” The reporter asked and added, “In the first term you could take billions and billions, but you wanted until the second period (saving tariffs).”
Trump shot: “In my first term I fought madness like you who tried to do things incorrectly and inappropriately with the president who was properly elected.”
Trump bought the last farewell and called reporters for not covering “well” “hundreds of billions of dollars in tariffs”, which was interested in China during the first term.
Many of the social media, amused by Trump’s answer, believed it was “wild”.
Some comments are: “MIC DROP 🔥”; “BOOM!”; “Savage 🤣🔥”; “Holy smokes 🤣”
Trump Tarifs and the 1977 Law
Trump demanded a broad authority to set tariffs under the Act on the International Act on emergency economic powers (IEEPA), the 1977 law historically used for the sanctions of enemies or freezing their assets. Trump is the first president to use it to store tariffs.
On Wednesday, he signed an executive order that imposed his endangered 50 % of the Brazil tariffs and stipulated a legal justification that Brazilian policies and the criminal prosecution of former President Jaira Bolsonar are the 1977 law.
Trump slapped dozens of US business partners with steep tariffs before 1 August in the time of business agreements, including 35% duty per Canada, 50% for Brazil, 25% for India, 20% for Tai -wan and 39% for Switzerland.
He issued an executive order stated by a higher import duty, which from 10% to 41% from 69 business partners, as the term 12:01 am EDT (0401 GMT) approached. Some of them have achieved agreements to reduce tariffs and some had no opportunity to deal with its administration.
