On Saturday (April 26, 2025) on Saturday (April 26, 2025), he stated that the main minister of Jammu and Kashmir said that the purpose of his visit here along the National Highway Jammu-Srinagar was to say that his government had not forgotten the victims of natural calamities despite his focus on the terrorist attack of Pahalgam.
Abdullah spoke to reporters after chairing the officers’ meeting to evaluate the situation, including the renewal of basic services, and announce five Marla from the land at secure places for those who lost land and houses in the catastrophe 20.
Three people and more than 600 houses were killed and commercial buildings were damaged in natural calamity, which also caused huge damage to 250 km of strategic national highway Jammu-Srinagar between 4 km from Maroog to series near Ramban.
“Today, we haven’t come here to make any big decisions. My goal was to give people that we were aware of their situation. We don’t want to think that all our attention is on Pahalgam and forgot about Ramban,” the main minister said.
Mr. Abdullah said he decided to visit Ramban as soon as the situation after Pahalgam’s attack allows him.
“I came to Ramban, met my colleagues and people from the district administration and looked at the situation. The highway was opened for one -way operation (April 23).
In addition, he said that the money that should be released for restoration work was released from Jammu.
“I also said administration and representatives of the Commissioner (Ramban Baseer-UL-HAQ Chaudhary) that there are many people whose houses have been damaged by some also lost land under their homes to wash them.
He stated that the loss of commercial buildings is not compensated according to SDR stands, the Commissioner was asked to prepare a separate proposal to provide reasonable relief.
The main minister said that people would be rehabilitated at a safer place where cloudbursts would not find the threat of landslides or lightning floods.
After chairing the meeting, the main minister visited the village of Dharam Kund affected by the flood, where three people were killed, including two smaller siblings and dozens of houses were damaged.
Mr. Abdullah went to Ramban from Srinagar to get the first hand information on the renewed highway and arrive in Ramban to assess restoration work, including opening roads, sludge cleaning and water and electricity restoration, the officials said.
It was the third visit to Mr. Abdullah in Ramban to personally monitor relief and rehabilitation measures in the district of floods and landslides.
On April 21, the main minister visited the worst section of Maroog-Kel Morh and the day later visited the city of Ramban to assess the ground situation and ensure proper rehabilitation of the affected population.
