Channaiah A. Itnalmath, a veteran journalist, activist and pro-kannada fighter, died on Monday in Athani in the Belagavi district. 62 -year -old writer underwent treatment of rectal cancer, family sources said.
He was survived by his mother, wife and son Abhinav Itnalmath, a medical student.
The bilingual journalist, Mr. Itnalmath, has worked for decades in Cannada and English newspapers. Before joining the editorial office, he worked for Vimochan Sansthe, founded by BL Patil, for rehabilitation of nin -asis and education of their children. He was involved in the school for children Ninadasis in Athani and at the Saundatti clinic.
Mr. Itnalmath was respected for his in -depth understanding of various social and political issues.
He led several campaigns through his messages. They included comprehensive irrigation of the drier Belagavi district, such as Athani, Nippani and Ramdurg, and the creation of a new district of Athani. His stories also gave a voice for the misery of Kannada communities in the neighboring Jath in Mahari.
President of the Kle Society Prabhakar Kore offered condolences. Mr. Itnalmath was known for his determination of the truth and impressive report in his career. His analytical stories and sharp political commentary have left a lasting impression on the reader. His journalistic contributions played an important role in emphasizing local questions and influencing public discourse in the region, said Mr. Korea.
Mahantsh Kavatagimath, former MLC director and Cage Society, said that Mr. Itnalmath was a tireless warrior for the cause of Northern Karnataka. “He would follow the development questions long after others forgot them.
