VCK urges Vijay to call an all-party meeting on the Mekedat issue

Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) general secretary and Villupuram MP D. Ravikumar on Sunday urged Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay to call an all-party meeting on the Mekedatu issue after the CPI(M), AIADMK and PMK criticized the resolution passed in the Assembly on the grounds that it was not passed in accordance with procedure.

In a statement, Mr Ravikumar said it was important for all parties in Tamil Nadu to speak with one voice. “Even if this criticism is valid, wouldn’t it signal to the Karnataka government that Tamil Nadu lacks consensus on this crucial issue? Wouldn’t it weaken our position? That is exactly why our leader Thol. Thirumavalavan has called for an all-party meeting. At least now, the Chief Minister should call it,” he said.

Mr. Ravikumar added, “In Karnataka, Congress and BJP may compete politically, but they stand united on Mekedat. We should learn from them. Tamil Nadu’s interests must not be sacrificed in the name of procedural blunders.”
