
Pope Francis, the first Latin American Pope in history, died Monday on Monday after a serious respiratory crisis. He was 88.

He spent 38 days there, the longest hospitalization of his twelve -year -old papacy.
In 2021, part of his colon was removed, then needed more surgery in 2023 to repair the painful hernia and remove the tissue of the intestinal scar.
Since 2022 he regularly used a wheelchair or stick due to poor knees and lasted bronchitis seizures.
