President Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) GK Vasan on Tuesday, May 20, 2025) urged the state government to conduct a survey to assess the damage caused by crops due to recent rains and take steps to provide compensation for the farmers.
In his statement, Mr. Vasan pointed out the damage caused by crops due to sudden rains in the last few days in Tamil Nadu, especially in the districts of Delta Cauvera. Banana, sesame, betel leaf and unpeeled crops prepared for harvest were seriously influenced by rain, he said.
Furthermore, worries expressed by farmers also raised due to damage caused by harvested unpeeled stored in direct purchase centers due to water stagnation. Agriculture and income department should conduct a survey to assess damages and provide a replacement of 40,000 GBP for the ACR for disabled farmers and 25,000 GBP for the ACR for farmers, he added.
