The Varanasi Court rejected a criminal complaint filed against the opposition leader at Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, above his alleged remark about Lord Ram during an interactive session held as part of his visit to the US
The attorney of the petitioner Hari Shankar Pandey accused Mr. Gandhi of the reference to Lord Rama as a “mythological and fictional nature” and said the same injured religious feelings of Hindu, and therefore meant hateful expression.
The lawyer argued that the act of the Congress leader became even more contempt, when the Supreme Court recognized the existence of Shri Ram Lally in his judgment on RAM Janmabhoomi. He also mentioned the recent oral notes of the Supreme Court, which expresses disagreement with Mr. Gandhi’s comments against VD Savarkar.
Another chief judge Neera Kumar Tripathi rejected the action, saying that he was not maintained.
