The Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi Party has announced plans to expand its presence in the state and strengthen its organizational base ahead of the upcoming zilla and taluk panchayat elections.
Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, party working president Sushim Sakpal said the party would form district and taluk committees to consolidate grassroots support.
Mr. Sakpal said these committees will help the party reach out to marginalized communities, including Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and other backward classes, and stay connected with them ahead of the local body elections.
Mr. Sakpal expressed support for the State Election Commission’s move to conduct the upcoming panchayat elections with ballot papers rather than Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), terming it as a positive step towards transparency.
