Left-arm spinner Vaishnavi Sharma earned her maiden ODI call-up while Bharti Fulmali returned to the T20I set-up for the first time since 2019 when the BCCI announced the squads for the upcoming tour of Australia. The Indian women’s cricket team is set to tour Australia for three ODIs and as many T20Is starting on February 15.
Star batsman Harleen Deol, who is part of the ODI set-up, has been left out of the T20I squad. The 27-year-old has had stunning returns in her T20I career so far, scoring 311 runs from 20 innings at an average of 17.27 and a strike rate of 92.01, with just one fifty to her credit.
Fulmali’s return to the international stage comes on the back of excellent performances in the ongoing Women’s Premier League 2026 (WPL 2026), where she amassed 92 runs in four innings at a mammoth strike rate of 191.66 for Gujarat Giants. She also impressed in the previous season, scoring 133 runs in four innings at a strike rate of 172.72. Fulmali made her India debut against England in Guwahati seven years ago and has only appeared in two T20Is so far.
On the other hand, Vaishnavi recently impressed in her debut series against Sri Lanka, where she scalped five wickets in as many matches. Along with her, 17-year-old wicketkeeper G Kamalini also earned her first ODI call-up. Shreyanka Patil, who last represented the country during the T20 World Cup 2024, has also been recalled to the T20I squad after recovering from a series of injuries.
Patil has been in top form in the ongoing WPL 2026, taking eight wickets from four matches so far, with her best figures of 5/23 against Gujarat Giants. Kashvee Gautam, who last donned the blue jersey in the tri-series against Sri Lanka and South Africa in May last year, has also returned to the ODI squad.
The upcoming tour will see India face Australia for the first time since their historic win in the semi-finals of the Women’s World Cup 2025. The ODI series will also be a farewell for Alyssa Healy, who has announced her international retirement after the upcoming rubber.
