Vaibhav Sooryavanshi pushes Sri Lanka A players, exchange words after India A’s loss

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi lost his cool and got into an altercation with the Sri Lanka A players right after India A lost an intense super contest in Dambulla on Monday, June 15. The incident happened just after Kugathas Mathulan bowled Sooryavanshi’s last ball. By then the equation was out of India A’s hands as they needed 8 runs off the last ball.

Mathulan nailed the yorker perfectly and started celebrating wildly as the Sri Lanka A players joined in. Although the exact reason is not known, it is suspected that the young opener was not happy with either Mathulan’s celebration or something that was said to him after the match ended. Sooryavanshi continued to have a heated argument with the players and the opener continued to push one of the Sri Lankan stars.

Sooryavanshi had to be separated by Niroshan Dickawella who acted as a peacemaker to diffuse the situation. Even as the players started shaking hands with each other, Sooryavanshi was not happy and had to be calmed down by his teammates as he made his way back to the pavilion. The commentators said it was not nice to see such a situation unfold after the thriller of the competition that day.

Monday’s match saw some exciting moments, the first being India A captain Tilak Varma. The Indian skipper kept arguing with the umpires, first trying to convince them that the light was fine for the super over and then over the no ball during India’s over bowling in the super over phase.

Sooryavanshi did not have the best of outings with the bat as he scored just 21 off 14 balls during India’s innings.

SOORYAVANSHI AND HIS NATURE

This is not the first time in his career that Sooryavanshi has been embroiled in a heated dispute with an opposition player. During last year’s U19 Asian Cup final, he was involved in an altercation with Ali Raza after he was sent off in the match.
