Young Indian batsman Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made history at the Under-19 World Cup on Friday, February 6. In the final of the tournament against England, Vaibhav smashed the fastest hundred in an Under-19 World Cup final, reaching his century in 55 balls.
With this feat, Vaibhav became only the third Indian batsman to score a century in the finals of the tournament, joining former India cricketers Manjot Kalra and Unmukt Chand. It was a scintillating knock from the 14-year-old left-hander, who started cautiously in the clash at the height of high pressure.

Batting in bouncy conditions, Vaibhav took his time early as he bowled a sizeable number of deliveries during the opening over. Showing maturity beyond his years, he decided to assess the conditions and the bowlers before switching gears.
It was only in the second half of the power play that Vaibhav revealed the full range of his strokes. He went particularly hard on England spinner Farhan Ahmed, hurling him for several towering sixes, one of which sailed clear of the ground.
En route to his hundred, Vaibhav smashed 8 boundaries and 8 sixes to help India dominate the contest. At the time of writing, India were 167/2 in 20 overs.
