There was a brief moment of concern for Rajasthan Royals when their teenage star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi limped off the field during their IPL 2026 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Jaipur. The 15-year-old, who had earlier lit up the game with a stunning century, appeared in discomfort while fielding and had to leave the field midway through the innings.
However, relief came soon after the game. RR batting coach Vikram Rathour gave a reassuring update suggesting that the injury may not be serious.

“He felt something in his hamstring but he looks fine now. They treated him so he looks good. We’ll know in a day or so, but it doesn’t look like anything serious,” Rathour said at the post-match press conference.
The update comes as a big boost for Rajasthan, especially after Sooryavanshi’s match-clinching contribution earlier in the evening.
HOW DID SOORYAVANSHI GET INJURED?
The incident took place at the start of the second innings at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. As SRH chased the ball towards the boundary in the fourth innings, Sooryavanshi suddenly got up and was seen holding his hamstring.
He immediately signaled discomfort and was attended to by a physio before being helped off the pitch. Initial visuals indicated either a hamstring strain or severe cramping, which raised concerns given his young age and heavy workload.
The timing of the injury made it even more dramatic. Just a few minutes earlier Sooryavanshi produced one of the outstanding performances of IPL 2026.
The 15-year-old batted first to a breathtaking century, reaching the milestone in just 36 balls. It was his second IPL hundred and he also became the youngest player to cross 1000 T20 runs. His innings powered Rajasthan Royals to a total of over 220, setting the platform for a strong showing at home.
Although unable to return to the field following the injury, Rathour’s update eased immediate concerns. For now, it appears to be more of a precautionary exit than a long-term concern, with the team evaluating him further in the coming days.
