Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (Image credit: BCCI/IPL) NEW DELHI: When will Vaibhav Sooryavanshi debut in India? When will the 15-year-old play for the senior Indian team? Former cricketers and fans are once again asking these questions. The buzz gathered momentum after the teenager smashed a 17-ball 52 in Rajasthan Royals’ IPL 2026 opener against Chennai Super Kings. Now former England captain Michael Vaughan has joined the conversation and wants the youngster from Samastipur, Bihar to be a part of India’s senior squad.Vaughan believes Sooryavanshi should be picked for England’s white-ball tour scheduled for July. India are scheduled to play five T20Is and three ODIs on this tour.

KKR Depart from Mumbai after losing to Mumbai Indians “When is he going to make his India debut? And I’m just looking and I know we’re probably getting ahead of ourselves. It’s only the first innings of the IPL but there’s a white ball tour to England in a few months. And if I was Indian cricket, I’d definitely get him in the team that’s going to be at that moment, but not at that moment. the one thing he’s going to need is that he’s going to have to be brought into the Indian team and to the environment that Indian cricket is in and if he plays one or two matches it will be fantastic, but can he get him on tour as a 15-year-old?” said Vaughan on Cricbuzz.“I would give him some experience with that Indian team. Not necessarily, like I said, jumping straight into the side, but just having him around. He’s good enough to play. I have no doubt about that,” he added. After the RR bowlers bundled out CSK for a meager 127, the focus again shifted to Sooryavanshi as he departed to open the innings. And he did what he does best – he sent the bowlers on a leather hunt.Sooryavanshi shared a 75-run opening stand with Yashasvi Jaiswal and smashed 52 off just 17 balls, including five sixes and four fours, to help RR beat CSK by eight wickets.“When you think he’s batting with somebody at the other end that I’ve had in the last few years, he’s up there with the best in terms of all format players. Yashasvi Jaiswal, I think he’s a terrific player. And I’m not saying Jaiswal looked average tonight, but there was a gap in the form of a fearless eye on the ball. You could see the way Jais looks at the ball. to launch it into the stands, he’s got an amazing freedom,” Vaughan said.“Those two innings were a contrast. You had Sooryavanshi who just went for pure modern sixes. And I respected Jaiswal because I don’t think he saw it as well as he could have seen it. So he didn’t just give it away. His strike rate wasn’t great but he had some time in the middle,” he added. Before the IPL, Sooryavanshi played a magnificent knock of 175 in the final against England to help India lift the Under-19 World Cup title.See also: PBKS vs GT Live
