The project to construct a bridge over the Perandoor canal, connecting Vaduthala and Perandoor in Ernakulam constituency, is set to become a reality soon, according to MLA TJ Vinod.
The contract was awarded to GM Engineers & Contractors, selected from five companies that participated in the tender process. In a statement, the MLA said the contractor would soon sign an agreement with the Public Works (Bridges) department and take over the site, after which construction would begin immediately.
The project has acquired 13.5 acres of land in Perandoor region and 10.56 acres in Vaduthala region. The total cost of the project including land acquisition is estimated at ₹ 34 crore.
The bridge will provide convenient connectivity between Pachalam and Vaduthala areas and Perandoor, he added. Although the land acquisition was approved in principle in 2011, the project has faced delays due to various reasons, the report said.
