
The Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau (VACB) arrested the former sub-inspector of the fishing department on Tuesday, which did not fulfill a court order that he will observe in 2009 in the event of embezzlement.
The accused S. Anith was convicted of abuse of 68 555 GBP from the bank in Ancuthung, which offers financial assistance to women involved in fishing during the period 1997-1998.
The case filed by Thiruvananthapuram Vigilance Unit led to Anith to receive the four years of strict imprisonment and a fine of 70,000 GBP. However, she referred to the judgment at the High Court in Kerala, which reduced her punishment to two years of strict imprisonment and confirmed the fine.
Despite the punishment, the convicted person did not appear in the court for vigilance to serve her punishment. As a result, the court for vigilance issued an arrest warrant. Was arrested and produced in court. Anith is currently filed in Attakulangar.
