The Office for the Valence and the Anti -Corruption Office (VACB) on Wednesday (April 30, 2025) arrested the Building Inspector of the Kochi corporation in order to obtain a bribe.
Swapna, Building Inspector of the Zonal Office of the Corporation in the Print, reportedly sought 15,000 GBP for processing the application search number. It was held by the Vigilance officials in Ponnurunni nearby while allegedly accepted a bribe. She came to her vehicle reportedly to collect a bribe.
S. Sasidharan, a police superintendant, Vacb Ernakulam Unit, said she was under the scanner after alleged complaints for demanding bribes from different people. It also demanded a bribe even after the applicant made the required repairs according to the instructions, he said.
VACB placed various Kochi Corporation officials under his supervision for public complaints. 6th December 2024 arrested three clerks of the Kochi Corporation for bribery. Reportedly, they were looking for 50,000 GBP to process the application to open a wholesale shop with mobile accessories. Were arrested while allegedly accepted 10,000 ₹ as a bribe.
