The Uttarakhand High Court released their stay in the countryside election elections on Friday (June 27, 2025). It ordered the State Government to respond to petitions concerning discrepancies in the list of reservations for election elections.
The bench of the main judge G. Narendar and the justice Alok Mahara released his stay in the elections Panchayat and heard petitions that challenge the reservation list.
The stay was announced on June 23, just two days after the state announced a schedule for public opinion surveys, which were previously planned on 10 and 15 July. The election results were scheduled for announcement 19 July.
More than a dozen reasons filed by the inhabitants of different districts allegedly incorrect proceedings in the assignment of reservation in Block Prakh and District Panchayat. The petitioners argued that several seats in the reservation list issued by the state were subjected to the same class for a long time in violation of Article 243 and the Supreme Court orders from time to time.
In response to the petitioner, the state informed the court that after the report of the National Reverse Class Commission, it was necessary to declare the previous list of reservations invalid and issue a new one for the current elections of Panchayat.
The bench noted that the number of repetitions in the booking list, as the petitioners emphasized compared to total seats, is slight. It is also stressed that some new Panchayats are carved after the definition.
The court ordered the State Election Commission to release a new plan of vote.
The state government was asked to answer problems raised by the petitioner within three weeks. The case will now be heard on July 28.
