YouTuber booked for rape in UP’s Meerut

Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against YouTube content creator Shadab Jakati allegations of rape following a formal complaint by a woman resident of Meerut district in Uttar Pradesh.

Superintendent of Police (Rural) Abhijeet Kumar said legal proceedings were initiated at Inchhauli police station after the woman submitted a written statement alleging serious criminal activity.

According to law enforcement agencies, the FIR was officially registered on Friday under several provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), specifically with reference to Section 64 (punishment for rape).

Subsequent legal action will be taken based on the testimony and evidence gathered during the investigation, the senior official noted.

The victim, who lives in Inchhauli locality on Mawana Road, accused the YouTuber of sexual assault and had previously repeated the allegations during interactions with the press.

Meanwhile, Jakati refuted these claims and called them completely baseless.

In a video speech lasting around two and a half minutes, Jakati claimed that the woman had contacted him for help and that he had given her help on the basis of philanthropy by funding her minor’s schooling, food supplies and other necessities.

He further claimed that the subject had participated in many of his video projects and suggested that there were bystanders who could corroborate his account of events.

Jakati further mentioned that surveillance cameras were operating at his home and insisted that investigators could review the recordings if needed. He also called for a fair and impartial investigation into the allegations.

The digital creator alleged that a conspiracy was being hatched against him and that a sustained effort was being made to implicate him in the criminal proceedings.
