The state government has set up a dedicated division to expedite implementation of the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel project as part of renewed efforts to expedite major irrigation works.
Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, who chaired a high-level review meeting on Wednesday, instructed officials to expedite ongoing and upcoming irrigation projects, including the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS). He said the Chief Minister has ensured continuous funding to ensure timely completion of key irrigation initiatives.
The minister placed the SLBC tunnel project at the top of the government’s priority list and announced the creation of a specialized division solely to supervise and execute the tunnel works. Currently, maintenance and repairs of the railway tracks in the tunnel are underway.
