Hannah Berner Faces Backlash After Comments About Megan Thee Stallion’s Music “Causing Fights” – Fans Accuse Her of Racism
Hannah Berner, known for her role on Summer House, has sparked outrage after her comments about Megan Thee Stallion’s music went viral. During an interview at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, Berner (33) told Megan (30) that her music makes her “want to fight.” Critics have accused Berner of perpetuating racist stereotypes and engaging in microaggressions.
In the now-viral clip from March 2, Berner initially praised Megan for inspiring confidence in women. “Women are gaining so much confidence everywhere. What do you do when you don’t feel confident?” she asked. While Megan emotionally responded, saying she would “cry,” the tone shifted when Berner added, “Your music literally, like, makes me want to fight someone. When I want to fight someone, I listen to your music. When people talk sh*t, I’m like, ‘Megan Thee Stallion!’”
Mixed Reactions and Accusations of Microaggressions
Though Berner acknowledged the challenges Megan has faced and called her an inspiration, her choice of words quickly drew backlash. Paige DeSorbo (32), who co-hosted the interview, remarked, “I’ve never seen her so passionate.” However, viewers expressed frustration, accusing Berner of reinforcing harmful stereotypes.
“This conversation was so cringey. White women need to stop talking to Black women this way,” one Instagram user wrote. Another added, “So microaggressive. Her music isn’t about fighting.”
Critics Defend Megan Thee Stallion
Many defended Megan, stating that her music isn’t inherently aggressive or violent. “Labeling her music as violent is a reach,” one person commented. “Megan’s songs have nothing to do with fighting,” another said.
Others accused Berner of direct racism. “It’s giving racist vibes,” one user wrote. “She’s always thinking of us as angry Black women,” another added.
Hannah Berner’s Public Image
Berner, who appeared on Summer House from seasons three to five, has yet to publicly address the backlash. As fans continue to dissect the interview, the conversation has reignited discussions about racial biases and the way Black artists are portrayed in the media.
