Earlier in the day, after opting to fire first, the United States made the most of the conditions. Batting as planned, the openers put up a strong show to register their first 50-run stand of this edition, while Sanjay Krishnamurthi ensured he batted till the end from the number 4 position. They slowed down in the middle overs, managing just 51 runs from overs 7-14, but 65 in the first 6 and 83 in the next 6 more than made up for it, with the Monank skipper handling the opening overs with with a fine 52 and Krishnamurthi handled the death with a blistering 68. The Namibian bowlers seemed to enjoy themselves only being Namibian bowlers. The Americans, especially through Willem Myburgh, but conceded too many runs in the next two phases.
