The United States and Ukraine signed an agreement on minerals on Wednesday after President Donald Trump had a big clearing with his Ukrainian counterpart in an oval office. The Mineral Agreement described as the Donald Trump administration as a “new form of US commitment to Ukraine” after the US President ended military assistance after an oval office, the US gives access to abundance in Kiev’s mineral reserves.
Accord will set up a joint investment fund for the reconstruction of Ukraine, because Donald Trump is trying to ensure peace settlement in the Russian three -year war in Ukraine.
The Mineral Agreement is the central point of the Kyiva effort to repair its tense relationship with the United States, which deteriorated after Donald Trump took over the office. It also provides long -term US investment.
Ukraine said it has ensured key interests after lengthy negotiations, including full sovereignty over its own rare countries, which are vital to new technologies and largely unused.
Initially, Trump demanded the rights to Ukrainian mineral wealth as compensation for billions of dollars in American weapons sent under former President Joe Biden after Russia attacked more than three years ago.
US Finance Minister Scott Bessnt and Ukrainian first Deputy Prime Minister Julia Svyrydenko signed an agreement in Washington. After signing the agreement, the Minister of Finance Scott Bessnt said that the agreement “Russia clearly indicates that Trump’s administration is committed to a peaceful process focused on a free, ruler and prosperous Ukraine in the long run”.
He said, “And to be clear, no state or person who funded or supplied a Russian war machine will not be able to benefit from the reconstruction of Ukraine.”
“As a recognition of significant financial and material support that people provided by the United States to defend Ukraine from the Russian invasion in a full scale, this economic partnership will stand to cooperate and invest our two countries to ensure that our mutual assets, talents and abilities can speed up the economic recovery of Ukraine.”
Prime Minister Denys Shmygal, who spoke of National Television in Kiev, described the agreement as “good, the same and beneficial”.
Yulia SvyryDenko wrote on X that the agreement includes a provision for Washington to contribute to the fund. “In addition to direct financial contributions, it can also provide new help – for example, air defense systems for Ukraine,” she said.
