The US embassy in Baghdad has warned of a “kidnapping risk” for its citizens in Iraq as war in the Middle East threatens US interests across the region.
“Iran and Iran-affiliated terrorist militias pose a significant threat to public security in Iraq,” the embassy said in a statement on its website Thursday.
“There have been attacks against US citizens, US interests and critical infrastructure,” he said, adding: “Americans also face the risk of kidnapping.”
Last week, the US called on its citizens to leave Iraq after it launched strikes with Israel on February 28 against Iran.
