US Open: World No. 8 Iga Swiatek exits in the 4th round after losing to Qinwen Zheng
Former world number one Iga Swiatek was left stunned by another sensational comeback by Olympic champion Qinwen Zheng at the 2026 US Open. Swiatek, who led 5-0 in the first set at one point, eventually lost 5-7, 3-6 to Zheng, who became the first qualifier since Emma Raducana to reach the quarter-finals of the 2020 US Open.
Swiatek appeared to be struggling with a problem in her left leg which was the reason for her downfall in the match as Zheng launched a ferocious onslaught on her to overcome a first set deficit before dominating the second to move into the quarter-finals. It was the first time the Polish star had lost to a qualifier in the main draw of a Grand Slam.
