Italian Jannik Sinner (AP Photo/Joanna Chan) World number one tennis player Jannik Sinner and his partner Katerina Siniakova withdrew from the Mixed Doubles Championship from the US Open after Sinner was forced to leave for illness on Tuesday in New York.The 24-year-old sinner had to admit the Cincinnati finals to Alcaraz after he lagged behind 5-0 in the first set due to the illness that started the day before the match.“I’m disappointed, I haven’t felt great since yesterday,” Sinner said in court. “During the night I thought I would recover a little better, but it wasn’t.”After his withdrawal from the final of Cincinnati, Sinner did not participate in a press conference after the match, but issued a statement confirming his participation in the Singly US Open, which starts on Sunday.
“I love Grand Slams a lot, they are the main tournaments for my season and my career,” said Sinner, ruling Master US Open. “The US Open will be a hard tournament, but at the same time I look forward to it, if I am ready, physically and mentally.”
