US-Iran War: The Congress on Sunday said the government’s response to the war with Iran was a betrayal of India’s values, principles and interests, saying the nation was paying a heavy price for both the substance and style of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign policy.

“Modi visited Israel on February 25-26, 2026, at a time when the whole world was aware that US-Israeli military attack on Iran that regime change was imminent. The attack began just two days after Mr. Modi left Israel, where his Knesset speech was a display of shameful moral cowardice,” Ramesh said on X.
“The Modi government’s response to the war with Iran, which included targeted assassinations, was a betrayal of India’s values, principles, interests and concerns,” he said.
Ramesh’s remarks come in Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei he was killed in a major attack by Israel and the United States. State media said an 86-year-old man was killed in an airstrike on his compound in central Tehran.
“Kowtowed to Israeli Prime Minister by President Trump”
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also condemned the “targeted assassination” of the leadership of a sovereign nation, Iran, by the so-called leaders of the democratic world.
“The killing of so many innocent people is despicable and deserves strong condemnation, regardless of the claimed reason. It is tragic that several nations have now been drawn into the conflict,” Vadra said in a post on X.
The world needs peace, not more unnecessary wars. Those in charge would do well to remember the words of Mahatma Gandhi: An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind,” she said.

The United States and Israel launched a major attack on Iran on Saturday, with Trump calling on the Iranian public to take control of their destiny and rise up against the Islamic leadership that has ruled their country since 1979.
Trump puppet: Singh
AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh wondered why PM Modi did not post on X over Khamenei killing. Singh recalled how the prime minister declared a day of national mourning following the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, who was killed along with seven other people when the helicopter they were traveling in crashed near the border with Azerbaijan in May 2024.
“Modi ji what happened today? You declared national mourning for the death of the Iranian president. You don’t even muster up the courage to tweet a single condolence for the death of Iran Supreme Leader Khameneibecause it’s America’s fault. The country does not need such a cowardly prime minister who is Trump’s puppet,” Singh said in the post.
The government’s response to the war with Iran was a betrayal of Indian values, principles and interests.
