US-Iran News LIVE: US launches new strikes on Iran, renews oil sanctions after tanker attacks | Today’s news
U.S. oil prices jumped nearly 3% in early trade on Wednesday, extending gains from the previous session after the U.S. military launched a series of strikes against Iran, raising concerns that a fragile ceasefire is faltering.
The strikes were carried out in response to alleged Iranian attacks on three commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, the US Central Command said on Tuesday.
Iran criticizes renewal of US sanctions
Iran, on the other hand, criticized the resumption of US sanctions on its oil sales, calling the move a “clear violation” of Article 10 of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in Islamabad on June 18.
He further claimed that the US had committed repeated violations of various provisions of the memorandum, either directly or “through the actions of the Zionist regime against Lebanon”.
The lawsuit alleges that the U.S. shared information with Iran about asylum seekers
A lawsuit filed Tuesday alleged that President Donald Trump’s administration illegally shared confidential information about Iranian asylum seekers with the Iranian government, which the Trump administration has denied.
Lawyers for the left-leaning Public Citizen Litigation Group represented the Iran-American Legal Defense Fund in the lawsuit.
