The United States has approved two major military sales of Excalibur missiles and Javelin missile systems to India worth approximately $93 million, according to the US Defense Cooperation Agency (DSCA).
The cost of the Javelin missile system and its associated equipment is estimated at US$45.7 million, while the Excalibur missiles and associated equipment are estimated at US$47.1 million.
“This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by helping to strengthen the US-India strategic relationship and enhance the security of a major defense partner that continues to be an important force for political stability, peace and economic progress in the Indo-Pacific and South Asian regions,” DSCA said.
The sale is expected to enhance India’s capability to counter current and future threats as well as deter regional threats. India will have no problems integrating these articles and services into its armed forces, the agency noted.
