
US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor on Friday announced that a possible meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump will take place at the right time.
“Stay tuned, I’m sure it will happen at the right time,” Gor told news agency ANI on the sidelines of the India AI Impact Summit when asked about the possibility of a Modi-Trump meeting.
The two leaders last met when President Trump hosted Prime Minister Modi for an official working visit to Washington, DC on February 13, 2025. During 2025, Modi and Trump maintained regular communications, particularly on trade negotiations.
Gor was at the AI Impact Summit as India has formally joined Pax Silica – US-led efforts in artificial intelligence and supply chain security – today, February 20.
Apart from Gore, visiting US Deputy Secretary of the Economy Jacob Helberg and Minister for Electronics and Information Technology S Krishnan were present when India signed and exchanged the Pax Silica Declaration.
Gor said it was a very impressive summit. “We have a lot of opportunities between our two nations, so we are looking forward to be involved,” he told ANI.
Earlier this month, Gor described India–United States relationship as having “unlimited potential”, following President Donald Trump’s announcement of a new bilateral trade deal that sharply cuts US tariffs on Indian goods and signals a sea change in energy and technology cooperation.
