Representatives of the US Embassy visited the Sri Padmavati Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam (SPMVV) campus here on Thursday as part of an ongoing project to improve employability skills among students.
It may be recalled that the US government sent Angela Susan Bakula to the university in August 2025 as part of the English Scholars Project to teach students communication skills and academic writing.
As she stayed in Tirupati and engaged with students and faculty members in conducting classes and workshops, embassy representatives from the Consulate General Hyderabad, Shweta Khanna and Nausheen Ali, arrived in Tirupati to appreciate the initiative.
SPMVV Vice-Chancellor V. Uma, Registrar R. Usha and Dean (International Relations) P. Vijayalakshmi and Contact Person P. Hari Padma Rani explained the details of the project to the couple.
Recalling her academic involvement in teaching communicative English and improving students’ learning skills on campus, Ms. Bakula also recounted how she enjoyed participating in other cultural and non-academic events both on and off campus. “Participating taught me many things about the cultural and social practices of Andhra Pradesh and India,” she said.
University officials thanked the US Embassy in Delhi and the US Consulate General in Hyderabad for offering the project to the university.
