US completes third round of strikes on Iran after hitting 140 targets, Qatar intercepts missile | Top updates | Today’s news

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Saturday (local time) that it had completed the third round of airstrikes against Iran after hitting about 140 targets. The strikes were announced earlier today after Tehran closed the Strait of Hormuz again “until further notice”, with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) attacking another vessel in Hormuz using an “unauthorised route”.

CENTCOM announced in a post on X, writing: “US Central Command (CENTCOM) completed its third round of strikes against Iran this week, July 11, with Iranian forces responsible for an attack on another commercial ship in the Strait of Hormuz.” It adds: “U.S. forces hit approximately 140 Iranian military targets with precision munitions launched by ground and naval fighter aircraft, drones, and naval vessels. Targets included Iran’s missile and drone sites, naval capabilities, ammunition depots, communications networks, and coastal surveillance sites.”

This is a developing story. Further details were awaited.
