The Ministry of External Affairs said on Saturday that the recent developments in Venezuela are of deep concern and that India is closely monitoring the situation. New Delhi reaffirmed its support for the well-being and security of the Venezuelan people while calling on all parties involved to resolve issues peacefully through dialogue to preserve regional peace and stability.
The MEA added that the Embassy of India in Caracas is in touch with members of the Indian community in Venezuela and will continue to extend all possible assistance as the situation evolves.
Ousted Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro was an accused prisoner on a New York-bound flight as his vice president, Delcy Rodríguez – who Donald Trump said would work with Washington DC to “make Venezuela great again” – condemned the crackdown as “barbaric” and “kidnapping”. Venezuela’s Supreme Court granted Rodríguez all acting presidential powers late Saturday.
