UPI payment today: Unified Payments Interface (UPI) National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on Saturday 12th April acknowledged that the online payment interface is experiencing a failure due to a technical problem that people are facing a digital transaction method.
In a post on the social media on the X platform, the digital payments body also assured users across the country that it is working to solve the technical problem and updates them about any new development.
“NPCI is currently facing intermittent technical problems, leading to a decline in a partial UPI transaction. We are working to solve the problem and inform you,” NPCI said in a social media post.
The UPI operator also apologized for the inconvenience caused by people because of the technical problem. People who use popular payment platforms such as Paytm, Google Pay, Phonepe, etc., experienced significant outages on Saturday 12th April.
“We regret the inconvenience,” they said in the post.

According to an earlier MINT report, with quoting the DownDetetor disruption, the UPI failure reached the peak at 11:30 on Saturday, April 12, when more users began to complain about their problems using the online payments system from their individual payment platforms.
The data also showed that nearly 76 % of UPI users face problems related to online payments, while 23 % of UPI users could not transfer funds.
Later, around 13:12 (ist), the UPI NPCI operator called a “technical problem” outage and apologized for the inconvenience that users faced.
The report also stressed that this is the second UPI outage in the last 10 days, when users have experienced disturbances related to digital payments and online transactions via interface.
For an earlier outage, the Indian company National Payments Corporation (NPCI) said the online transaction system has fallen due to success in some banks, which increased Latence in the UPI network.

People on social media platforms began to share memes after the initial complaints that UPI did not work on Saturday. Little Netizens began to question the Indian online payments system and called it “strange” for such a sudden outage.
“#Upidown again. So weird !! It becomes too common today. The first #upi goes down, then banks declare their own” downtime “for UPI transactions,” said Vijendra Yadav user in his post.
Others began sharing memes on the social media platform about how traders and customers reacted when they began to experience the effect of a sudden failure.
“How do I look at the merchant and try to make a UPI payment today,” said social media user on behalf of the shoulders who shared the popular meme social media on X.
Some users who remembered the value of “cash is the king” and said they were happy to carry some money in such an hour of need.
“UPI is down again. Good that I always wear cash. Cash is always a king !!” said a social media user named Suresh H on the X platform.
