The Unique India (Uidai) identification office (UIDAI) announced complete surrender of fees for compulsory biometric updates (MBU) Aadhaar for children. This step, effective from 1 October and lasting one year, is, according to an official statement published on Saturday by a “measure for people”.
“According to the current rules, fingerprints, iris and photographs are required to update in their Aadhaar when the child reaches the age of five. This is called the first mandatory biometric update (MBU).
“AADHAAR with updated biometric facilitates ease of life and ensures smooth use of Aadhaar in the use of services such as receiving schools, registration for initial exams, use of scholarships, DBT (direct transfer of benefits), where they are listed in schemes during priority,” IT.
Why is a biometric update required
When a child under five years of age is registered for Aadhaar, their photograph, name, date of birth, gender, address and birth certificate are recorded. However, their fingerprints and iris biometrics are not captured because these features are not fully developed at such a young age.
Existing rules load that children’s fingerprints, iris scanning and photographs must be updated twice during their childhood:
1. The first mandatory update is required after the child reaches the age of five.
2 .. The second update must be made at the age of 15 to 17 years.
A new surrender of the fee
Previously, these major updates were allowed without any fee for children aged 5-7 years and in the age group 15–17 years. However £125 The MBU was then accused.
With this new decision, UIDAI made MBU effectively exempt for all children aged 5 to 17 years. The Office stated that this fees applied to the first mandatory biometric update (MBU-1) and will remain in force for one year from 1 October.
