Ballia: A man who allegedly kidnapped a 17-year-old girl and took her to Mumbai and Pune was arrested here he raped her several times over a period of about 25 days, police said Saturday.
Defendant Baburam (21) kidnapped the girl on November 14. Based on her father’s complaint, a criminal complaint was registered against the accused.
Chitbaragaon Station Officer (SO) Dinesh Pathak said the minor was rescued from the area below the police station. She told the police that Baburam kidnapped her and took her to Mumbai and Pune in Maharashtra where raped her.
Based on her statements, sections related to rape under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and provisions of the Child Sexual Offenses Act were added to the case, the officer said.
The accused was arrested near Dharmapur Junction on Friday and sent to jail after completing the necessary legal formalities, Superintendent of Police Omvir Singh said.
Maharashtra: Man arrested after 18 years for rape, murder of 5-year-old girl
A man has been arrested from Uttar Pradesh for allegedly raping and brutally murdering a five-year-old girl in the district 18 years ago, the Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) police said on Saturday.
The crime took place within Manikpur police station limits, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Madan Ballal said.
Nandlal alias Nandu Ramdas Vishwakarma, then 22, was nabbed from his Khardauri village in UP’s Siddharth Nagar district on December 10, he said.
Vishwakarma was accused of luring the girl away by promising her chocolate sometime between 11:00 p.m. on 31 March 2007 and 8:00 a.m. the next day, raping and beating her, and then strangling her.
“After the incident, he fled to Nepal and stayed there for a long time. He recently returned to UP and worked as a brick kiln labourer,” said Senior Inspector Aviraj Kurhade.
The crime detection cell-2 Vasai, which was conducting a parallel investigation along with the local police station, received a tip-off a few days ago that he was hiding in his native village. A team was sent to Khardauri and Vishwakarma was arrested, the inspector added.
