The day after the video showed that Ias Rink Singh Rahi officers were doing sit-up in front of the lawyers to publicly admit the lack of cleanliness in his new post in Shahjahanpur’s Puwaiyan, the Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday (July 30, 2025).
District judge Shahjahanpur Dharndra Pratap Singh told PTI that Rahi, who was sent to Puwaiyan, was only on Tuesday, was now released from the post.
An unusual incident occurred on the first day of Rahi in the office. During the inspection of the premises of the time, he noticed the waste dotted through the mixture, dirty toilets, and some people urged openly. He ordered the perpetrators to make a sit-up as a punishment to be an example.
Later, when he met a group of lawyers who were on the strike, Rahi was asked to punish.
The lawyers pointed out that the administration was equally fault for the prevailing unhygienic conditions in the compound of the time, including the presence of stray animals and dirty toilets.
Rahi replied by acknowledging the delay and in the obvious gesture of humility held his ears and made a seat before the advocates – an act that was captured in the video and widely circulated on social media.
SDM later said PTI that the idea was to support better public behavior. “When I saw people urinating near the toilets, I asked them to use the equipment. When I refused, I made them make seats. Similarly, I saw some school children traveling around the premises and their parents were forced to sessions as a deterrent means,” Rahi explained.
Rahi remembered the incident with lawyers and said, “They asked if I would take responsibility for the dirty conditions in the time and made a session. I said yes because it was our shortcoming and I did.” He also added that the time of the time told him that significant cleaning was done in the last 10 days, but acknowledged that if the dirt remains, “it is our fault and I accept it.”
Administrative sources said Rahi did not return to the headquarters on Wednesday, and later he left for Lucknow during the day.
