
UTTAR Pradesh on Wednesday (June 11, 2025) provoked the provisions of the UTTAR Pradesh (ESMA) Service Maintenance Act, 1966, to disable strikes in the electricity department for six months.
The announcement was issued pursuant to sub -section 1 of Section 3 of the UTTAR Pradesh Service Act of 1966 (UP No. 30 Act of 1966), in the middle of the continuing unrest in the sector of power, confirmed government sources.
Esma seizes the police for arrest, without order, employees who violate its provisions. According to the law, individuals who encourage or participate in strikes are considered illegal to face imprisonment for up to one year, a fine of up to 1,000 ₹ or both.
This step is followed by a growing tension in the electricity department, although the government does not describe the specific causes of the unrest.
