
Lucknow:The Uttar Pradesh said on Tuesday that it registered a company against 40 social media accounts and arrested 25 people for spreading anti-national content and misleading contributions related to the Sindoor operation.
These are the instructions of the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the CEO of Police Prashant Kumar, ordered officials to identify individuals who online spread false or provocative information and take strict legal steps against them.
A special team under the supervision of another CEO (Law & Order) Amitabh Yash performs continuous monitoring of various social media platforms from the Social Media Center of the Police Directorate.
“So far, 40 accounts have been identified and companies have been registered in the relevant districts. 25 individuals were arrested,” the statement said.
There is also an effort to block all 40 accounts via computer crime headquarters, he added.
DGP Kumar appealed to the public not to share any unverified information that could disseminate panic, introduce citizens or tarnish the image of the Indian army.
He called on people to verify any messages, pictures or videos through the official label of the Uttar Pradesh police checks on X.
The police argued that broadcasting or sharing a misleading, false or anti-national content on social media is a crime and the supervision of all platforms is 24×7.
