In a tragic event, a 5-year-old girl lost her life after being hit by a pack stray dogs attacked four children who came out of their homes in the morning in Dhaneipur area of ​​Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday.

According to police, the incident took place around 7 am on Saturday near a primary school in Madhavganj, about 200 meters from the victim’s house.

The deceased has been identified as five-year-old Muskan, daughter of Bishun Lal, a resident of Kalyan Nagar ward in Gonda.

She went outside with her elder sister Mehak, 6, and two other children, Naitik and Sunaina, when the dogs attacked them.

While the other children managed to escape, Muskan was seriously injured in the attack, police said.

When the neighbors heard their screams, they immediately rushed to the spot and the dogs ran away. Subsequently, Muskan was taken to the Community Health Center and later transferred to the medical school, where she was pronounced dead by doctors.

Local Councilor Pawan Tiwari and Nagar Panchayat Deputy Chairman Brijbhushan Verma met the bereaved family and assured them that steps would be taken to nab them. stray dogs.

The UP government is speeding up the establishment of animal birth control centers

Responding to growing concerns about stray dogs and bites across the state, the Uttar Pradesh administration has expedited the establishment of Animal Birth Control (ABC) facilities and shelters.

These ABC units and dog shelters are currently being built under the municipal corporations and various district centers across the state, according to an official statement issued recently.

At the administrative level, emphasis is placed on the synchronized procedure of site selection, financial assurance and project authorization. These measures are in line with specific guidelines previously issued by the Supreme Court.

On 7 November 2025, the Supreme Court acknowledged the “alarming increase” in dog attacks in institutional zones such as hospitals and schools and ordered that such animals be relocated to authorized shelters.

The bench ordered authorities to block stray dogs from entering the premises of public and private educational institutions and health facilities to mitigate the risk of injury.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the government is trying to solve the problem of stray dogs using humane and scientific methodologies, the statement said.

ABC’s robust network of dog shelters and facilities will protect public health while advancing animal welfare standards. Within metropolitan jurisdictions, dog shelters will be integrated with existing or planned ABC centers.

It is the responsibility of each municipal body to ensure adequate acreage and complete all required bureaucratic procedures, the statement said.
