In the rare act of responsibility, Ias Rink Singh Rahi, newly appointed as Sub-Divisional, the Puwaiyan Sub-Divisional (SDM) of Puwaiyan, then in Uttar Pradesh, sat down on his first day in office and admitted his failure to ensure cleanliness in government areas.
According to PTI, there was an incident on Tuesday during the Rahi Inspection in the then office. An officer who was disrupted by the view of the surrounding area and the people who were opening were originally forced by the perpetrators to make sitting as a form of public repair.
However, a group of protesting lawyers who have already been in strike emphasized the wider question of poor hygiene in the government facility. They pointed to dirty toilets, stray animals that wandered around the spaces and overall neglect.
In a moment that has since become a viral, Rahi replied by making five sit-ups before the protesting group and holding his ears as a gesture of comparison.
Talk to NDTVRahi explained the justification of his action: “I explained that this act was supposed to prevent repeated crimes. Then they pointed out that the premises of the time were also dirty, the toilets were dirty and stray animals wandered.
The video of this moment shows how the officer works well with lawyers before he approached the crowd. His actions attracted mixed reactions online, some of which praised his humility and others questioned symbolism.
Rahi also revealed that efforts have already been made to improve conditions. “The then that the situation informed me that the situation was even worse only about 10 days ago and that he managed to clean most of it. Yet if the problems remain, our responsibility is our responsibility and I accept it,” he said.
He added that he encouraged citizens and employees to point out to be able to solve them quickly.
