Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday (Nov 22, 2025) issued instructions to all district magistrates to take swift and strict action against illegal immigrants, including instructions to set up temporary detention centers in each district to house identified infiltrators.
Mr. Adityanath stressed that national security remains the top priority and any illegal activity will not be tolerated.
“Emphasizing that law and order, national security and social harmony remain top priorities, the CM said that any illegal activity will not be tolerated. District administrations have been directed to identify illegal immigrants residing in their areas and take action in accordance with the law,” an official statement issued by the government said.
“The Chief Minister has also ordered the establishment of temporary detention centers in each district to house the identified infiltrators,” the statement further said.
Seven districts of Uttar Pradesh share an open border with Nepal, allowing free movement of citizens of both countries but controlling residents of other nationalities.
