Students were detained on the University of Hyderabad campus.
On Sunday, the University of Hyderabad (UAH) developed a tense Standoff as the TELANGANA police detained students inside the campus and reduced their movement. The barricades were established in the eastern campus, where the school of the economy is located, which prevents students from accessing the area. The Gachibowli police said that about 50 students were detained as preventive measures.
The incident is the latest of a series of confrontations over ground disputes in UAH, which has seen repeated tensions between students and authorities.
Students argued that Earthmover machines entered the Eastern campus around 14:30 as part of the auction procedure, trying to clean the land despite the opposition. Videos from the scene showed that students are forcibly taken.
The student who spoke to Hindu described how the situation escalated. “The police started randomly detaining students around 3:30 pm students standing far from protests who were also taken in two buses and truck. Some students were taken to Madhapur, others to Raidurgam police stations.
The video from the university showed the student that after receiving the information he rushed that he threw himself into the Eastern campus that the police in the area barricaded and brought earthly movers and bulldozers. “We just wanted to know what was happening there, but the police initially forcibly took six students, including girls,” the student said.
They pulled the students to the buses and took them to an unknown place, said Saurav, a student. “We protested near the helad, where the country cleaned the country and mushroom rock, which is a place of inheritance. A large number of students gathered when the police began to retain people. The police locked it from outside to stop the protest but were forced to open it,” he said.
Meanwhile, lawyer Rama Rao Immeseni filed a complaint with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) against police officials involved in the intervention. NHRC registered the complaint and is ready to explore the matter. The University Administration has yet to issue an official development statement.
Declaration
The student connection of the University of Hyderabad issued a statement that strongly condemns police brutality and illegal detention of students who peacefully protested against unlawful intervention in university ground. “Using strength against students who exercise their democratic right to protest is an obvious attack on free expression and autonomy of campus. It is deeply disturbing that instead of dealing with long -term concerns about land interference, the university administration remained silent.
“We require immediate release of all detainees, a clear statement of administration regarding the questions of penetration and responsibility using strength against peace protesters. The Student Union will continue to resist this land and political resources. We are inviting the university community and media.
