The Minister of Education of the Union Dharndra Pradhan chaired the ceremony of the letter (LOI) at the University of Liverpool on Monday, May 26, 2025) in Nový Delhi. This is the second foreign university to be released by LOI within UGC (establishment and operation of campuses of foreign university institutions in India), 2023.
He said Loi reaffirms India as a trusted partner in global higher education. He said it was another milestone on the Indian journey to deepen academic partnerships with leading global universities – aspirations built into national educational policy, 2020.
Mr. Pradhan urged to focus on areas such as research and development and innovation, and stated that it is remarkable that the University of Liverpool will focus on STEM research leading to innovations.
He stressed that it was the fourth foreign university to publicly announce its presence in India. The university will open the area in Bengalur. In this academic year, 15 foreign universities will come to India, especially in STEMB (science, technology, engineering, medicine and business), he added.
Vineet Joshi, chairman of UGC, said that the University of Liverpool received formal approval from UGC to open the first premises of the University of Foreign University in Bengalur.
The inauguration cohort of university and postgraduate students will join the university in August 2026, originally offering programs in the field of company management, accounting and financing, computer science and biomedical science.
It will also present a game design program – a unique offer for the British University Campus in India, which offers this innovative item.
Campus Bengaluru creates research -intensive environment. An important basic, applied and industrial research will be based on the Bengalur campus and provides a solution to a number of global and local challenges and needs.
Indian students will also have access to the global mobility system and will provide important opportunities for academic, professional and personal development in both Liverpool and around the world.
